Other Bluesky research areas being explored
Whilst historically Bluesky has been involved in developing chemical and engineering solutions for the oil industry, the knowledge and experience gained in the field of mineralogy and metallurgy in particular have been invaluable in opening up research areas out-with the oil industry particularly in the fields of mining tailings, radioactive contamination and fertilisers.
Mining
Bluesky has an active program of research for the mining industry aimed at preventing metal pollution of ground waters associated with the leaching of heavy metals from surface mine tailings.
Water
Bluesky is working in association with the University of Dundee to develop a river pump that requires no external power source to lift large volumes of water from the river for irrigation and flood prevention. Patent GB257883
Agriculture
Bluesky is developing a fertiliser that can be used on unproductive iron stone gravel soils in Western Australia that do not respond well to the application of conventional fertilisers.
Nuclear Industry
Bluesky is currently developing a method of decontaminating lead bricks that have become activated by neutron bombardment in nuclear power stations to allow tens of thousands of contaminated lead bricks to be cleaned and recycled.
